Properties
- Foams are semipermeable and non-adherent
- Non-traumatic upon removal
- Either hydrophilic or hydrophobic
Indications
- Partial and full thickness wounds
- Pressure ulcers (stage I-IV)
- Venous stasis ulcers
- Ulcers caused by mixed vascular etiologies
- Diabetic ulcers
- 1st and 2nd degree burns
- Cuts, abrasions and surgical wounds
Composition
- Polyurethane foam
- Collagen
Collatek hydrocolloid foam application
- Debride and cleanse the wound
- Apply medication if necessary
- Choose a dressing size that extends beyond the wound margin at least 1 1/4"
- Remove backing from the appropriately sized dressing
- Apply the Collatek foam on to the wound surface
- Press down with gentle pressure to ensure good skin adhesion
- Apply secondary dressing eg. hypoallergenic tape, gauze etc. to secure the foam
Collatek hydrocolloid foam removal
- Dressing change will be dependent on the exudates
- Lift the dressing gently until all edges are free
- Repeat steps under product application as needed
Collatek hydrocolloid sheet precaution
- Do not use if you have an allergy to bovine derived materials
